    NSC 19630 (MIRA-1) is a potent, selective Werner syndrome helicase (WRN helicase) with IC50 of 20 uM; shows selecitvity over human RecQ helicases (RECQ1 and BLM), Fanconi anemia group J (FANCJ) helicases and three Escherichia coli helicases (RecQ, UvrD, and DnaB); dramatically impaires growth and proliferation, induces apoptosis in a WRN-dependent manner, and resultes in elevated γ-H2AX and PCNA foci in human cells; delays S-phase progression and induces DNA damage; a mutant p53 reactivator that induces mutant p53-dependent cell death in different human tumor cells carrying tetracycline-regulated mutant p53.
